IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a globally recognized direct English language assessment examination. This exam is of the highest quality and integrity readily available throughout the world. IELTS is prepared for those who seek international education, professional recognition, bench-marking to international standards and global mobility. IELTS is owned, developed and delivered through the partnership of the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations .
This examination covers all four language skills, that is, listening, reading, writing and speaking. The test is offered in two formats – Academic and General Training. Academic is suitable for candidates who are planning to undertake higher education or seeking professional registration. General training is for candidates who undertake non-academic training or work experience .

Test Centres and Examiners
IELTS test centres are run by either British Council, IELTS Australia and IELTS International (for the USA). Most centres are either British Council offices, IELTS Australia offices or universities/language schools. There are currently more that 400 IELTS test centres in over 120 countries world-wide. A number of IELTS test centres also offer off-site testing, increasing availability to over 150 countries.
All test centres are monitored and follow the IELTS Code of Practice. All IELTS Examiners are trained, certificated and monitored to ensure a standardised testing and assessment system around the world.
